How we work

How we keep the Nexillumi catalog current

What changes on this site, how often, and where the facts on each page come from.

Prices

We update prices on a schedule, and the whole catalog moves at once. The catalog was last updated on October 1, 2026. Between two updates a price can move at our retail partner, and if the figure at checkout differs from ours, the one at checkout is the one you pay.

Lengths and packs that come and go

Every length, color and pack on a product page is one you can buy right now. One that stops being offered disappears from the page at the next update, and it comes back by itself when it is offered again. That is also why some of our best-known strip lights are missing today: they return to the shelf as soon as they are in stock.

Specs

Lengths, TV sizes, wattage, lumens, waterproof ratings, battery capacity and what is in each box come from our own product data. Where two descriptions of one light give different figures, we print the narrower one or leave it out.

Ratings

The stars and the count next to a product are the ratings buyers gave that product family. The lengths or colors of one light share one pool of ratings, so we count each pool once when we add them up.

Ladders, holiday lights and batteries

Where a page talks about working on a ladder, stringing lights for the holidays or charging a rechargeable battery, it relies on the public sources below, each read before it was cited. The date of that reading is printed next to every source.

This is general household information, not electrical or safety advice for your home. The instruction sheet in the box and the label on the product are the final word. Wiring beyond a plug-in adapter is a job for a licensed electrician.

Every source this site cites

Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Portable Ladder Safety (QuickCard). Asks for three points of contact while climbing, a stable and level base, an extension ladder that reaches at least 3 feet above the point of support with its base set a quarter of its working length from the wall, no standing on the three top rungs, and no metal ladder near power lines. Read October 1, 2026.
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Holiday Safety. Says never to string together more than three sets of incandescent lights or overload electrical outlets, and to stay current on recalls at CPSC.gov. Read October 1, 2026.
National Fire Protection Association, Winter holidays. Counts an average of 835 home structure fires a year that began with decorations other than Christmas trees, and finds electrical distribution or lighting equipment involved in two in five home Christmas tree fires. Read October 1, 2026.
National Fire Protection Association, Lithium-Ion Battery Safety. Advises batteries listed by a nationally recognized testing laboratory, stopping a charge once the battery is full, using the charging equipment supplied with the device, stopping use at an unusual smell, heat, popping, swelling or color change, and keeping these batteries out of household garbage.
